Why I Stamp:
I believe that most Americans, despite many efforts to educate us, remain uninformed of governmental processes, oversteps and corruption. Stamping a concerning issue on something that is handled everyday by all Americans may spark an inquiry, or a conversation that may lead to more informed Americans becoming educated activists and, hopefully, positive changes will occur. At this moment I am very much afraid for our democracy and want to do what I can to preserve it.
Vote Money Out Of Politics
Favorite Place to Spend Stamped Money:
I try to stamp all One dollar bills and sometimes 5 dollar bills. I use the money in drugstores, grocery stores, include it in birthday cards to family, and anywhere small amounts of money can be used.
M.S. in school counseling
Job / Profession / Work:
retired school counselor
Recently, I worked hard through the summer and fall, to the exclusion of other interests , to get out the vote through the summer and fall and worked as a precinct official on November 6. I’ve turned into a sort of political junkie or SJW, as my grandson calls me. I volunteer at a local charity called The Green Chair Project, meet weekly with several likeminded women of a certain age and take Spanish and Pilates lessons.
What Makes Me Happy:
I tear up with joy when I see or hear about humans showing compassion for each other and acting on it. I especially value what the ACLU and the Southern Poverty Law Center do.
I would like to see a kinder, more caring, compassionate, civil, honest, inclusive, law-abiding, fair America that is respectful of science and the environment before I die. At this point I am not feeling optimistic.
