Why I Stamp:
Money in politics is undoing the voice of the people and putting corporate interests first. It gives attention to issues that benefit the wealthy and gives too much attemtion to those states with large numbers of electoral votes. We also need to shorten our time of campaigning and take all money out of campaigning. Give each candidate three sessions of TV time to present their position, policies and ideas to the people. No other ads (especially negative ones) just tearing down the other person
are needed and are counter productive. Candidates do not need to take time and energy going all over the place making “appearances”. This is not a good use of their
time and expertise. It would also limit foreign influences in spreading misinformation about the candidates. Our politicians spend too much time campaigning and need to spend their time doing the job of legislating. Our whole system of electing candidates has become skewed, negative and not helpful to the voter. We need to radically clean it up.
General Comments:
Besides taking money out of political campaigns, we need to dissolve the electoral college. It was established because of a compromise
over slavery because of the Southern states. Now we are in a new time, relooking at our shameful past of tolerating slavery.
