When her son died in December 2019, Carmella Wallace, the mother of the late musician Juice WRLD (Jarad Higgins), experienced an unfathomable sorrow. Despite touching the hearts of millions with his genre-bending music and profoundly reflective lyrics, Juice WRLD battled substance abuse and mental health issues in private. His life was cut short at the age of 21, leaving a hole in both his fans’ hearts and the music industry. Carmela turned her suffering into a platform for progress by sharing her son’s story instead of withdrawing into sadness.
