Common symptoms include jaw pain, swelling, and tenderness around the back of the mouth. Patients may notice red or bleeding gums, difficulty opening the mouth, bad breath, or an unpleasant taste from infection (pericoronitis). Pain can radiate to the ear or head, and partially erupted teeth trap food, increasing decay risk.
