Sometimes a factory reset helps more than a hard reset, but it wipes all your downloaded books, so back them up first. Check if your storage is almost full, too; that can cause terrible lag.

You usually have to wait for them to send you an invitation to connect first before you can message them back. There is a small fee attached, which you fund through an online account.
